Did You Know - It all started with Hoover?

It all began with the good ole Hoover, and it made such an impact on domestic vacuum cleaners that ‘Hoover’ and ‘Hoovering’ are words stilled today irrespective of the make or model of vacuum.. Of course, the name ‘ Hoover’ is synonymous with the first ever Hoover invented which was the model 0, way back in 1907. It was introduced to the world by a man named Murray Spangler, who was a janitor in a local department store.

Choosing from the Best Rated Vacuum Cleaners!

With so much competition around with household appliances, one would think that one vacuum cleaner is as good as the next for its given price range right? Well no, not really! Then what is the Best Rated Vacuum around today then? Phew! Now there’s a question. With so many models available for all floor types and at all budgets, it’s quite impossible to narrow it down in a general sense. It would be easier to categorize all the different types available and then make a short list based on functionality and value for money.

Some homes keep their trusty vacuum for donkey’s years, whereas others change it often for the sake of change, and dare I say, keeping up with the Jones’. But as most of us want to get reasonable longevity from our vacuum cleaner, it’s always worth spending a bit extra on a well know and reputable brand from the outset.

Wasn’t life so much simpler when there were fewer choices!  I guess we shouldn’t complain because healthy competition not only drives consumer prices down, but quality and innovation up, but by heck the choices can be a bit overwhelming these days. There’s Oreck vacuums, Miele vacuums, the ever popular Cordless Stick Vacuums, the much sought after Dyson dc14 vacuum cleaner (Dyson's new upright, bagless model) plus many many more.

You’ve probably seen a growing interest in the new range of so called ‘robot cleaners’ which supposedly help busy folks with the housework. The brand of Roomba vacuums seem to be leading the way in this new technology, but whether they’ll actually catch on or not is anybody’s guess!

Ask any one of a hundred people what the Best Rated Vacuum cleaner is today and you’ll probably get as many different answers. To make things a little simpler, here's a real short list on what are perhaps the most popualr popular models at the time of writing:

Electrolux – The Electrolux EL1000A2 Pronto Bagless Stick Cyclonic Vacuum reviews are excellent at epinion.com, with this model earning 4 ½ stars from reviewers who said their new purchases were “excellent on hard floors,” “great on carpeted stairs,” and is versatile, looks great, and is always easy and convenient to use.

Hoover – While the Hoover H3030 FloorMate SpinScrub 500 Upright Wet/Dry Vacuum gets only 3 ½ stars from 15 epinions.com users—who say everything from “It’s worthy of the Jetsons!” to “It’s mediocre at best”, the ever traditional and modern Hoover S3765-040 Wind Tunnel Electric Bagless Canister Vacuum gets better overall reviews at amazon.com. There, users gave an average of four stars, with individuals ranking the model with 5 stars saying that although it “…looks a tad like an offshoot of Artoo-Detoo, it gets the job done in a jiffy,” and “This vacuum is absolutely wonderful!” It got kudos, for example, for its versatility (goes in small areas, does linoleum and carpets, etc.), affordability, and powerful suction and beater bar action.

Miele – The Miele S514 Solaris Bagged Canister Vacuum gets five stars for ease of use, ease of cleaning, durability, and style, by users at epinions.com. According to vacuum cleaner reviewers (who bought and use the model), the Miele is quiet, lightweight, has adjustable suction power, and is pretty impressive on the whole.

As I said previously, these are only a few of the many reviews of the many models, but the vacuum cleaner review as written by a real consumer seems, overall, to be a wiser source than the producer, distributor, or maker who says they/it are/is the most popular in the world or the best product on the market or blah blah yada yada.

Good Luck

Floors for Folks says: Top models are not cheap, and obviously everyone is looking for the best price on vacuum cleaner brands, but just because the price is right doesn't mean you're going to get the best vacuum. Forget the cosmetics and space age appearance, the best vacuums are simply those that suck up the dirt and get into all those nooks and crannies.

So, what are the best vacuum cleaners? This question is much easier to answer than it used to be now that we have access to the internet. The best vacuum consumer reports are in abundance and are written by real consumers, not manufacturers or retailers.

So, whether you're looking for the best vacuums for pet hair, the best hardwood floor vacuum cleaner, or perhaps the best cordless vacuums, just read the online consumer reviews and you'll be in a much better position to make an informed decision on your next purchase.
