Where to Buy Carpet? Are Carpet Stores on the way out?Floor surfaces! They can truly make or break the theme of a room and so great care should be taken when covering any floor in the home. Maybe the time has come to take up your worn out tired looking carpets? When that old threadbare carpet needs replacing so many of us decide not to buy carpet again, but to go for the trendy wood flooring instead which has become so popular in home across the country. If you're anything like me you have been in the situation of recent years when the debate of carpet Vs wood flooring rages inside your head. Let's take a quick look at the pros and cons of each.
Many think that carpet is more economical overall, but when you think that the life expectancy of a reasonable carpet is between 7 and 10 years (depending on use), then is this really such good value for money? Discount Carpet Flooring is everywhere now that fashions lean to wood & stone floors
In fact, most folks change their carpets well before they need to as they often get bored with the fabric, the pattern, or because it no longer matches with the newly decorated room(s). Hardwood floors, on the other hand, can last a lifetime if cared for properly, and are always in style and will blend in beautifully with any interior design. Still want to buy carpet? Ok, let's give carpeting a few brownie points too. For starters, a good carpet is soft under foot and muffles sounds. There's no question of doubt that a nice carpet looks fantastic too, especially when it's new. The variety of patterns, textures and colours found in carpets are limitless, which is more than can be said for wood flooring. But then the argument can swing again in the favor of wood or laminate floors. Why? Well because there's no escaping the fact that wood floors are much easier to clean and they last longer. In fact, when you think about it, how many times have we had to deal with carpet stains from spilt food and drinks! Out come the carpet shampooers and our other carpet cleaning supplies. There's no getting away from the fact that there's more time goes into carpet care than with real wood floors.
In hindsight, I should have kept my decision to buy carpet a secret and just gone out and purchased it without informing the household. We were all set to buy carpet again anyway, and it was only a passing comment about how it might be nice to try wood flooring for a change that sparked up a great debate that went on for weeks. But all is not lost and we have come to a compromise of sorts, and have decided to redo the dining room floor with wood. Now the problem is choosing what's right, as we have a new ongoing debate on whether it should be a floor made of maple, oak, hickory, pine, beech, elm, or pecan, but hey, with the world as it is to day, I would say these are high class problems, and if we can't agree on something soon, then I'll simply slip off to the local carpet dealers and buy carpet again. |
