Rubber Floor Mats in the Home?

I don’t just have an interest with house or garage floor mats, as I’ve turned out to be quite a collector of all the various types including many new and old style auto floor mats . My prize collection includes some great Cadillac floor mats, and I have a full set of Mustang floor mats and a front set of jeep floor mats too. I even have some fancy Toyota floor mats which were made as a limited addition. My wife, Janice, has put the big truck floor mats in the porch and they look just great. Yep, you’d think with a collection like that I’d be called Matt!

Although Janice thinks my hobby is harmless, I know she worries about my state of mind sometimes, but then don’t all wives? For me, few things in life get me more excited than shopping for some quality rubber floor mats. Hey, give me some slack here, we all need to have hobbies, and rubber floor mat collecting is as good as anything else I guess. My friends have never understood my obsession with what they must perceive to be just an everyday mundane item, but I just gently remind them that the true greatness of rubber floor mats isn’t for everyone to understand.

In all seriousness, I do really like rubber floor mats for some reason, but I wouldn’t go so far to say that they’re an obsession of mine. During my college years, I grew to appreciate rubber floor mats as they prevented a number of what might have been serious injuries in my rented sophomore house. The house, shared with several other guys, was pretty close to a fraternity, and had a constant stream of beer spilling idiots wandering through it. As a result, we were always washing the tile floors, and slipping all over the place afterwards.

We soon realized that several well-placed rubber floor mats were necessary, and if it wasn’t for those mats I’d probably be in a wheelchair now. Also, the mats helped keep the floors cleaner for longer, as they would cut down on some of the dirt and mud people constantly dragged in. If I had my way, I would have placed mats over the entire house because it seemed like I was always washing the floor. Catch all floor mats we called them, because the seemed to attract the dirt off of folks shoes.

Rubber floor mats are great to have at the entrances to your home, as they provide a great way to remove the dirt from your shoes as you come in. This is essentially what they’re designed to do, and they do it well. A good rubber floor mat has a rough surface texture to it, so with just a few steps on one the loose dirt and grime on your shoes will come off.

One of my personal favorite websites to search for rubber floor mats is ‘matsmatsmats.com’. They have more rubber floor mats than you can shake a stick at, and you’re sure to find whatever mat you had in mind there. Different styles, colors, and textures, you’ll have plenty of options to pick from. Also, one neat feature about their store is they provide for custom logo rubber floor mats. If you have a business, a floor mat with your logo on it is a great way to give a professional appearance to your store or office.

Many of our European cousins chose to have those oh so common ‘Welcome’ mats at the threshold of their homes, and more often than not these are made up from plastic bristle or hog’s hair. Well, many of us here prefer rubber welcome mats, but then the Europeans always have been a bit odd, haven’t they!
